Sunday 31 July 2022 will be a day that will long go down in women’s football history as things have taken a turn for the better – and perhaps nobody summed up what Sunday’s Women’s Euro 2022 final was all about for the game, the Lionesses’ win meant captain Leah Williamson.

Scottish women’s football has made great strides in recent years. There are now three full-professional clubs, a couple of semi-professional sides – with more semi-professionals this summer – and the national team now plays almost exclusively at Hampden Park, perhaps as it should have always been.

However, the key factor behind growth across the UK has undoubtedly been viewership growth – and now it’s time to take it a step further.

A host of Scottish women’s football teams start their 2022/2023 season this Sunday and there is no better time to support your local side than now.

The success of the European Women’s Championship has increased interest, intrigue and passion tenfold and fans are now keen to take part in the burgeoning season of Scotland’s women’s Premier League, alongside the lower leagues.
